Gig Harbor Senior Center Finds a Temporary New Home

Because of the sale of the Boys & Girls Club building to the Peninsula School District in early 2019 the Gig Harbor Senior Center, which has been housed in the building since its inception, has been displaced, and they must vacate the premises by June 21st 2019.

Since the May 6th Compass & Clock E-newsletter here's the promised update on all that has taken place over the last several weeks.

Harbor Covenant Church, located at 5601 Gustafson Dr. NW, Gig Harbor will be the temporary new location for a majority of the senior centers activities and programs.

Harbor Covenant Church has offered space on Mondays & Wednesdays during the summer, so the Senior Center's relationship with the Catholic Community Services hot lunch and foot care programs will remain intact.

Use of this space at Harbor Covenant Church allows the Senior Center to keep the Bingo, Card & Board Games, and other activities that their members enjoy also intact.

The Church's generosity enables the Gig Harbor Senior Center Task Force to continue their search for a long-term temporary home, while they hunt for a permanent solution.

It will be necessary for their exercise programs to move to various locations however. Tai Chi will meet at Tacoma Community College, Gig Harbor campus, with instructor Royann Gurley. The S.A.I.L. (Stay Active & Independent for Life) class will continue meeting at the Harbor Dance Studio with instructor Hunter Severt. The Fitness 4U class will be meeting at Harbor Covenant Church with Gloria Reinman.

Please join the group for a Farewell Coffee on Tuesday, June 18th, 11am, as they gather to say goodbye to their home away from home (8502 Skansie Ave., Gig Harbor).
