Today's guest is Maria Metzler, the Executive Director of Helpline House on Bainbridge Island. She and I discuss the Food Bank side of Helpline House and how it enables folks to get a Hand Up, not a Hand Out. It helps folks have access to healthy food choices at no cost, and it helps them to make sure that they don't have to make that tough decision...."do I go without eggs, meat, and produce this week, because I need to pay the rent." By shopping at Helpline House you can pay the rent and also have those groceries in your cupboard & fridge/freezer. No one goes hungry.
